We just celebrated Abe's third birthday, and since Abe and Edie are 2 1/2 years (minus 10 days) apart, that means Edie just turned 6 months old! How in the world is my baby 6 months old already? And how is my other baby three YEARS old?!
We were in Wisconsin Dells when Edie officially turned 6 months old, so I took these pictures two days later once we were back home. Abe saw me taking pictures and decided to help...
He got his camera and pulled up a chair to stand on (just like mama), then started to take pictures saying "You're gorgeous E-diff!"
I really should have made a video, it was so funny. It's so much fun watching them play together. Abe does his wild and crazy little boy routine and Edie just laughs and laughs. And sometimes she growls. Abe is always growling like a dinosaur so Edie picked up on that and does it too. She's our adorable little dinosaur.
This month she started eating solid foods full force. I feel like Abe ate one meal of baby food a day for a long time before really getting into it. Edie was up to three meals a day within two weeks! Some of her favorites are bananas, peas, and rice. Oh, and sand. Can't forget about sand. Actually she'll eat just about anything if you're silly enough to put it in front of her...rocks, sticks, leaves, grass. I know Abe went through this phase too, but he turned 6 months old in the middle of winter. There just weren't as many "edible" options indoors, and when we went outside he was so bundled up he could barely move, much less pick something up with his mittened hands and put in in his mouth!
Edie started sitting on her own last month, but now she can sit for long periods of time, and she's learned how to lay down (or launch herself forward to get things just out of reach) when she's tired of sitting (instead of just tipping over or falling backwards). This also means I can put her down to play in the sandbox or the bathtub or on the floor and I don't have to hover over her or surround her with pillows to prevent head injuries. Yay for learning to hold your big head up on your own, Edith! This also means more fun at the park!
She's been laughing and giggling a lot lately, usually in response to something Abe is doing, and we've also been enjoying her sweet hugs and baby kisses. She sure is a fun addition to our little family!
